More Markets, Lower Prices and New Opportunities: Our Food Justice Program Is Growing!

Every Wednesday afternoon, our community garden transforms. Neighbors arrive looking for fresh, familiar foods. Young interns help harvest and prepare produce, families fill their bags, and conversations grow alongside the vegetables.

This is what food justice looks like: affordable, culturally relevant food grown with and for our community. This season, that work is growing even more.

Keeping Prices Low This Season

We grow food for people, not for profit. Through Universal Good Food Bucks, all shoppers receive 50% off every product at our markets. The discount is already reflected in the prices shown in our promotions.

Despite rising farming costs, community support helps us continue offering affordable prices for our neighbors.

Welcoming Our Sixth Cohort of Youth Interns

Our sixth cohort of youth interns is gaining hands-on experience in organic farming, market management, and food justice education—including how food justice connects to what our community is experiencing today.

Expanding Our Markets

We have added another market this season! We continue hosting our weekly community garden market every Wednesday. We have also partnered with the local WIC office to offer a market at its location every other week, making it easier for families to use their WIC benefits and other nutrition assistance programs.

Launching a 10-Week CSA Pilot Program

We are testing a 10-week Community Supported Agriculture—or CSA—pilot program with a selected group of participants. Their feedback will help us understand community interest and design an affordable, permanent program for future growing seasons.

The idea is to combine seasonal produce with culturally relevant foods and everyday staples for our community. Because our garden is small, we collaborate with a local farmer who rents land to us and grows food sustainably. We also purchase produce from a network of South Jersey farmers who share our values.

Together, we are building a local food system rooted in affordability, culture and community.
