Mientras la temporada de cultivo llega a su fin, celebramos nuestro Día de Muertos con más de 50 participantes que compartieron comida, tradiciones y recuerdos. Disfrutamos deliciosos platillos como pan dulce, champurrado y mole casero, además de actividades como pintacaritas y decoración de mini ofrendas. Juntos honramos a nuestros seres queridos alrededor del altar y degustamos productos del jardín, cerrando con rifas y encuestas para planear la próxima cosecha.

Through the Youth Food Justice Program, students don’t just learn about equity—they help shape it. Guided by Dr. Franca Roibal Fernández and Dr. Jesselly De la Cruz, interns explored intersectionality, mental health, and how gardening can nurture both community and resilience. From creating zines envisioning a just food system to touring Rutgers Food Innovation Center, students connected learning with real-world action for a fair and sustainable future.

Halfway through our sixth annual Food Justice Internship, six passionate students are immersing themselves in hands-on work and critical learning about food justice, farmworker rights, and systemic oppression. Despite extreme summer heat in Bridgeton, they’ve persevered with care, hydration, and shade breaks.
