“Have you ever watched what is happening to immigrant families and workers and thought, ‘This is wrong, but I don’t know how to help’?” asks Ashford King, a sustaining donor of CATA.
Many of us have felt that same heartbreak and uncertainty. We see immigrant families facing fear, harassment, detention, and harmful lies. We see workers fighting wage theft, unsafe conditions, and unfair treatment. We want to help, but we may not know where to begin.

CATA is a grassroots organization that stands alongside agricultural workers, immigrant families, and communities throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Through organizing, education, advocacy, and direct support, CATA helps people defend their rights, access essential resources, and build power within their communities.
In 2025, CATA reached more than 800 migrant workers and visited over 60 farms across six counties. Our team trained 138 people on their workplace rights and supported 15 wage-theft cases, including a victory of more than $200,000 for 44 landscaping workers. In Maryland, CATA also helped secure over $650,000 in unpaid wages for 66 poultry workers.
CATA’s impact extends beyond workers’ rights. Our Food Justice Program provided fresh, culturally appropriate produce to 171 customers and families, while RadioCATA shared trusted information about immigration, workplace safety, community resources, and workers’ rights.
This work is possible because people choose to stand with our communities month after month.
