Last month, New Jersey passed two immigration-related laws aimed at strengthening trust between immigrant communities and public institutions. While they limit data sharing and restrict local cooperation with federal enforcement, advocates say the final versions fall short. Key protections were weakened, leaving concerns about continued data access and increased vulnerability, especially amid growing ICE presence in places like airports.

At the start of the new administration, immigrant families faced uncertainty amid increased enforcement and deportation threats. In response, CATA expanded Know Your Rights workshops, built community alert networks, and strengthened mutual aid efforts. One year later, through advocacy, education, and its Solidarity Fund, CATA continues supporting immigrant communities with coordinated, practical action and community-driven solidarity.
