Workers confronting unsafe conditions need support now. This Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2026, help CATA respond when our communities need us most. Give today.

The people who help feed our communities deserve fair wages, safe workplaces, fresh food, and the freedom to care for their families. Workers are organizing to make that vision a reality, with trusted information and community support to help them move forward.

Across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, CATA is there when immigrant workers and families need us. Whether responding to a detention emergency, visiting farmworker camps, or expanding access to fresh food, we provide immediate support while organizing alongside communities for lasting change.

Bringing Information Directly to Workers

Knowing your rights is an essential step toward defending them. Through 89 outreach visits to farmworker camps, we reached 4,414 workers with information on immigration rights, labor rights, and community resources.

These conversations build relationships that help workers raise concerns, find support, and take action together.

Standing With Families During Emergencies

When a loved one is detained, families can face sudden financial strain and difficult decisions. CATA supported 22 immigrant families affected by ICE detention and mobilized 80 Rapid Response volunteers to help verify enforcement activity and support affected families.

We also distributed $15,000 through CATA’s Solidarity Fund to help immigrant families facing financial hardship. This work depends on trust built long before an emergency happens.

Growing Food Justice and Community Leadership

Food justice means having access to nourishing, culturally appropriate food and a voice in how that food is grown and shared.

CATA’s Food Justice Program brings this vision to life. Our community garden harvested 90 varieties of culturally diverse produce, while our pilot Community Supported Agriculture program distributed 130 produce boxes, connecting families with local farms.

Through 15 market days and 12 volunteer days, community members accessed fresh food and worked together to care for the garden. Markets accepted SNAP, WIC, Good Food Bucks, and Senior FMNP benefits to make local produce more accessible.

We also invested in 6 paid youth interns, helping young people develop skills in growing food, community leadership, and food justice.

Your support helps put fresh food on families’ tables and gives young people opportunities to lead.

Advocating for Lasting Change

When workers speak up together, they can change the policies and conditions that put their livelihoods and families at risk.

CATA advocates for farmworkers’ rights, workplace health, paid leave, affordable childcare, and fair wages. Alongside workers, community members, and coalition partners, we push for protections against pesticide exposure and extreme heat, address housing concerns, and challenge barriers facing immigrant families.

This work brings workers’ experiences directly into public testimony, rallies, and policy campaigns.

Community organizing also delivers local victories. On October 6, Bridgeton City Council passed an ordinance limiting the use of city resources for civil immigration enforcement. In Maryland, CATA joined community partners in organizing to help end 287(g) agreements, which enabled local police collaboration with ICE.

Your support helps sustain the organizing behind these efforts, so workers can help shape the decisions that affect their lives and hold officials accountable.

Keeping Community Voices on the Air

RadioCATA 102.5 FM connects immigrant communities with trusted information in a language they understand. We share information in Spanish about workers’ rights, health and safety, and programs and resources available to listeners and their families, helping them navigate services and find support.

Our signature program, “Sí Se Puede,” brings immigrant and farmworker stories to the airwaves while championing workers’ rights and food justice. It creates a space for community voices, questions, and conversations about the issues affecting their daily lives.

In 2026, the program received the Excellence in Community Media Award from the Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University.

Help Carry This Work Forward

A family facing detention cannot put its needs on hold. Neither can a worker seeking fair treatment or a household struggling to access fresh food.

Your Giving Tuesday donation helps sustain the relationships, outreach, and organizing behind this work.

Donate to CATA today, sign up to volunteer, or share this appeal. Whether you give your time, make a donation, or help spread the word, you stand with immigrant workers and help advance food justice.
