ICE staged operations at this N.J. city’s zoo and parks, residents say. Now they’re fighting back.
Organizer Edgar Aquino-Huerta wrote that agents appeared to gather at those sites in the mornings before operations and returned later to transfer detained people into larger vehicles.
Many of the locations sit out of view from the street. “Unless you actually go inside, you may never know ICE is there,” Aquino-Huerta wrote.
Los Tequios and CATA Farmworkers brought the proposal to the council July 21, and canvassed downtown businesses ahead of the September meeting, urging residents to attend.
