Stand with us in New Jersey to fight for...
NJ Workers Protections from Extreme Heat!
Each year, workers continue to die from extreme heat exposure. CATA, along with many other organizations across the state, are acting to protect workers with a law that mandates water breaks, heat training, cooling stations, and shade. Urge the NJ Legislature to pass NJ A5022 for a heat protection standard. Send a message to your NJ legislator here
"I was a farmworker. I know the struggles firsthand." - Edgar Aquino Huerta, CATA Organizer
Farmworkers are at the core of our food system, yet they continue to work under hazardous conditions, especially in extreme heat. New Jersey must implement a heat standard to protect workers from heat-related injuries, especially as climate change intensifies extreme temperatures. We continue to push for stronger workplace protections, and we need your help. Join us in this fight to demand that farmworkers receive the safety measures they deserve! Send a message to your NJ legislator here.

Defending Immigrant Communities
The New Jersey Immigrant Trust Act (S3672/A4987) is proposed state legislation in New Jersey designed to protect immigrants’ interactions with state and local government by limiting cooperation with federal immigration enforcement and safeguarding personal data. It would require public agencies — such as schools, healthcare facilities, and libraries — to adopt policies that prevent sharing immigration status information and ensure government resources are used for local priorities rather than deportation efforts. As a member of the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, CATA has been advocating for the passage of this bill.
Farmworkers Are Denied Fair Wages in NJ– We Filed Suit on Their Behalf
