Judge hands initial win to farmworkers alleging unfair labor practices

Jessica Culley, general coordinator at CATA, called the ruling the “beginning of vindicating the rights of farmworkers” who have faced decades of unfair pay.

“Especially in this moment, when immigrant communities are being brutalized across the country and our local communities experience raids on a nearly weekly basis, New Jersey must begin treating farmworkers with the same dignity and respect it affords similar workers,” Culley said.

“Renee Nicole Good, a woman, a wife, a mother, a poet, and an ally for her community, was murdered for having the audacity to stand up and want to protect her community,” Culley said. “Many of us are here for the same reason. We have friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, who are directly impacted by this situation.”
