New Jersey Proposes $20 Million for Immigrant Legal Defense Following Delaney Hall Protests
In May, hundreds of people detained at Delaney Hall in Newark launched a hunger strike to demand humane conditions, the release of vulnerable detainees, and the right to await court hearings with their families. After more than two weeks of protests and community pressure, New Jersey’s governor proposed $20 million for immigrant legal defense. While an important victory, the funding is expected to help only about 40% of detained immigrants, leaving many without legal support.

Compartimos una meditación guiada, fortalecimos lazos entre comunidades de NJ, PA y MD, y revisamos el plan estratégico 2026–2028, enfocado en derechos de inmigrantes, alcance comunitario, soberanía alimentaria, colaboración y participación de voluntarios.
